The Bufflehead, with its striking white sides and white patch on its head, is smaller than most cavity nesting ducks. They have become dependent on nest boxes and this house is ideal due to the scarcity of holes excavated by a large woodpeckers or flickers which these ducks naturally use for nesting.

Range: Buffleheads breed in Alaska east to western Quebec, and south in mountains to Washington and Montana. They winter in southern U.S., south to Mexico, the Gulf Coast and northern Florida.
Habitat: Prefers nesting on wooded lakes and ponds. In their winter range, they prefer salt bays and estuaries.
Material: Crafted of natural wood, the side panel opens to allow for easy clean-out at the end of the nesting season.
